Bearing housing/seal

The components of the roller bearing housing: the bearing housing is composed of the base body, the bearing and inner and outer labyrinth seals installed in the base body. There is a ring-shaped waterproof and dustproof shield at the outer end of the inner seal and the large end surface of the base body. A labyrinth gap is existed between the inner seal and outer seal at the shield. Due to the removement of the protective cover and dust cover in original structure, not only the structure of the bearing housing is simple, but also the number of parts is reduced, and the depth of the base body is also reduced, thus it saves materials and greatly reduces the manufacturing cost. At the same time, the sealing effect is improved by extending the gap and length of the labyrinth, which extends the service life of the idler roller. The good sealing performance of the bearing housing requires strict quality control of the components to ensure the structure and tightness of them, which will bring a good sealing performance as well as a better benefits. The role of the seal is to prevent external dust, moisture from invading the bearing. According to whether the seal is in contact with its relative moving parts or not, it can be divided into contact seal and non-contact seal.

Contact seal: Place hard materials with good friction reduction properties (such as reinforced graphite, bronze, wear-resistant cast iron, etc.) in the bearing cover to directly contact the rotating shaft. The soft materials placed in the bearing cover is in direct contact with the rotating shaft to cause friction. Commonly used soft materials are felt, rubber, leather, cork and so on.
Non-contact seal: The non-contact seal can avoid the contact between the seals and the rotating part. There are mainly gap seals, labyrinth seals, and oil rejection seals.
